Old City Explanation: Citation from website shown below: "Chiamata in passato centumcellae, fu abbandonata dopo l'arrivo dei saraceni. Quando fu nuovamente abitata le fu assegnato il nome di Civitas Vetula, ossia "città vecchia". The etymology of this name will no doubt be described in other sources as well. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 6 hrs (2015-09-17 20:39:16 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- In response to Asker's notes: I think you are separating the "Ci" from the "Vita", creating the word "Life" in the middle, whereas the origin of the word according to this Italian source is "Civitas'" meaning town (or city).
