Even the Garzanti gives "sell" as one of the meanings of cedere. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2010-05-15 10:03:15 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- "transferred contracts" doesn't do the trick if you ask me. Put yourself in the position of an analyst in LA or Tokyo. In my mind he is scratching his head, so just say it how it is and put him out of his misery. Reading it more carefully, my answer should be "transfers FROM other companies". You only get points for poetry in the Letter from the Chairman/CEO. Again, if I went for a job and they said "we'll give you an 'open-ended' contract", I'd feel a bit worried". If they said it was a "permanent" contract, then I'd feel exactly the same way as an Italian when the get a "contratto a tempo indeterminato", a job for life.* |
