neutral  Tom in London: Italians, French, anyone else who lives in a hottish climate. In August it's just too hot to do much. It's even worse in Kuwait, where there is a big thermometer in the middle of the city and if it hits 50°C, officially everyone can stop all outside work.

neutral  Helen Pringle: @Birgitta- In Italy, leave for pregnancy and shorter working hours for nursing are regulated by law. They have nothing to do with holidays. The actual Italian text seems to deal only with "gravidanza" leave, which has nothing to do with "ferie". Glad you
