data harvesting website Explanation: this is a "fake" website offering access to something, in exchange for you inputting your name, address, email address etc. Its real purpose is to obtain your personal details so that these can be used for marketing, identity theft, etc. Facebook is one example. Try googling for the term. There are lots more examples. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 4 hrs (2008-10-25 08:54:22 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- the trick is to get you to "sign in", as though this were a restricted website only accessible to "members". |
