Italian to English translations [PRO]
Law/Patents - Law: Contract(s)
Italian term or phrase: intimation
Context: in a rental contract under the heading interest on arrears and termination of contract.
Here is the incriminating part of the 7 line sentence:

In caso di mancato pagamento......, la Parte Conduttrice sarà tenuta, previa *l'intimazione* di cui all'articolo 1219 del Codice Civile e salvo in ogni caso il diritto della Parte Locatrice di chiedere la risoluzione del contratto.....a corrispondere gli interessi di mora....."

From my research I have found this definition: "Ai sensi dell’art. 1219 c.c., comma 1, c.c. la costituzione in mora del debitore avviene mediante intimazione o richiesta fatta per iscritto."

Can anyone confirm if this is 'formal notice of default' or am I way off?

TIA

It means intimation or notice. I think "formal notice of default" would be overtranslation.
