Appurtenances and positive and negative easements Explanation: The term "appurtenance" is frequently used in property deeds to refer to any property that 'appertains' to the property being bought/sold. It refers to things like annexes, outbuildings, land (dipendenze), fixtures and fittings (pertinenze). A positive easement (servitù attiva) refers to a right entitling the holder to do something affecting the land of another in some way, while a negative easement (servitù passiva) refers to an obligation not to use the land/property in certain ways.
