Medical - Medical (general) / death certificate
Italian term or phrase: investimento
I'm translating the death certificate of a patient who was a subject in a clinical trial. This death certificate lists an astonishing variety of ways that people can die.

There is one section about traffic accidents that offers several options: Tipo di incidente (es. investimento, scontro, ribaltamento, ecc.):

I'm confused about "investimento" versus "scontro" The dictionaries I'm checking define both of them as "crash" OR "collision." I'm guessing that one of them means crashing into an object ... a house, a wall, a tree etc. while the other means a collision with another vehicle, but if so I can't decide which is which.

If someone can help with "investimento" then I can deduce what the other one means. (For "ribaltamento" I figured out "rollover".)

Grazie mille !!

agree  JudyC: I'd put "[pedestrian] hit/struck by vehicle" on a certificate. See ICD-10-Mortality Manual
