Italian term or phrase: ridotto il tono calcico
This is from the X-ray section of a hospital report.

RXBACINO / RX ANCA / RX FEMORE dx: ridotto il tono calcico.
Mezzi di osteosintesi anca destra. Coartrosi bilaterale, calcificazioni vascolari.

I'm not sure as to the equivalent in English. Would it be reduction in calcification (or just decalcification)?
Thanks

L'osteoporosi si manifesta il più delle volte in maniera asintomatica: inizialmente si ha una diminuzione del tono calcico delle ossa (osteopenia), soprattutto a carico delle vertebre dorso-lombari, del femore e del polso.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks very much - I think I'll actually go with your suggestion of low calcium density as osteopenia is specifically mentioned by name later.
