I would rearrange the sentence slightly, to say > when it comes to entities and distribution of the proceeds deriving from studies and clinical trials, university personnel are to be considered on the same level with\on a par with NHS employees.

"equiparazione" is actually a sort of compensation given to some "less important people" working on these studies, meant to make salaries equal across the board, as explained below:

However, I'm not sure it's necessary to explain the fact that it's a compensation in the case above, here "are to be considered on a par with" might suffice?
