final confirmation (grazie mille, Valeria). I think Anne is right in her interpretation (something similar exists in German as well, doesn't it?)

Why don't people declaring this as non-pro don't step in to provide their abundant helpful non-pro knowledge to this question? Seriously, this query is a textbook example of why machine and non-pro translations have their limitations, and why translation can never work without a in-depth consideration of context!

Ciao Lirka. Indeed we need the Italians. I haven't seen Gilberto Lacchia around for quite a while (I hope he's all right).

As a non-Italian, I've found Treccani useful often. Here's their (Italian) definition of "corrispondenza": "...d’un fabbricato o di un’abitazione che si trovano di fronte o si affacciano l’una sull’altra: sulla parete di fondo, in corrispondenza con la porta d’ingresso, abbiamo messo un grande specchio ..."

Just my attempt at getting at this. Google translate (not always the most authoritative translation resource) gives "bordering" as one of the meanings of "affacciarsi".

If it means adjacent to, that's something else. Hmmm.... hope the Italians will check in with their interpretation or, rather, understanding.
