Medical - Medical (general)
Italian term or phrase: in corrispondenza
Bone scan:

"Assenza della captazione del radiotracciante in corrispondenza dell'arco postero-laterale della IX costa di destra."

What is the significance of "in corrispondenza del" here? Is it actually superfluous?

Thank you!

agree  JudyC: in, or at (the site of), or on. But not "corresponding to" (in your example it continued with "imaging findings on CT"

neutral  Joseph Tein: The "corresponding to" in the example above appears in a different context; they're talking about findings from two different types of study that coincide. "Corresponding to" in this particular case is an incorrect translation.

  -> ok

agree  Anne Schulz: "at the site of" would be my preference, since the rib was resected per the parallel query (but "corresponding to [the site of]" may work as well for a bone scan, since you don't see the anatomical structure but on a corresponding anatomical imaging scan)

Explanation:
It literally means "at the place that corresponds with", which is only a longer wordy way to say that that's the place where it is :-))
I would simply translate with an "at".
