Explanation:
Si tratta del gesso con cui non è possibile camminare se non con delle stampelle, in quanto non possiede il tacco che si mette quando la gamba può sopportare il carico (with elevated heels). In genere il tendine di Achille si cura nella prima fase con un gesso di questo tipo, tenendo il piede in posizione equina, poi con un gesso da carico dotato di tacco e con il piede in diversa posizione.

L'intervento viene completato con l'emostasi, l'immissione di antibiotici in polvere, la sutura delle parti molli e la confezione di un apparecchio gessato cruro-pedidio.

Il decorso postoperatorio si svolge regolarmente.
In 45a giornata vengono asportate le viti e viene rinnovato l'apparecchio
gessato, munendolo di rialzo deambulatorio.

Dubito del fatto che il termine intenda la lunghezza del gesso, infatti si può usare per la tibia (https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-88-470-5668-8_... ed è usato quasi sempre con il determinante "in scarico", in contrapposizione con quello "da carico".

neutral  JudyC: forse anche ma non dice. Il termine descrive la posizione e estensione del gesso, non se è un gesso da carico o non da carico.
