Italian term or phrase: Centro per disagio giovanile
I'm translating a book by a mother, a therapist, who lost her daughter to depression and suicide.
She wants to start a "Centro per disagio giovanile" to help other youth in her daughter's same condition.
It's a center offering pscyhiatric help, and also spiritual guidance.

Disagio continually dogs me in this translation; I've ultimately opted, when it occurs alone, for "emotional pain" or "malaise" or "distress". But putting it in this title makes it more difficult. The best I have so far is "Center for youth problems", but that's pretty vague. "Mental health center for youth"?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Peter

ps. a different formulation from those I've proposed above would be welcome!

neutral  Anthony Green: Depression in a place name is very off-putting. Disagio is a bit strange in Italian too isn't it? I imagine not a single young person would be seen dead walking into a place with such a name!

-> Hi! I agree that it's not appealing but there are actually many centers with this name.

neutral  James (Jim) Davis: Hi Bruna. If you look here I think these centers are where they study and research depression/train personnel.http://www.nndc.org/centers-of-excellence/

agree  Anthony Green: it's a looser translation but one which is presumably far more appealing than going for a more literal translation

Centre for vulnerable children and young people

Explanation:
I worked in social services for 10 year in Children and Families division. In England this is a standard example of terminology used to describe young adults/children at risk or with mental health problems. If you look at the two website this may also provide further information for you. One is Kids Company who works across England with at risk children and the other is Place2Be which was set up to provide counselling and support to children and young people in schools, particularly those with mental health problems who are struggling since the earlier the intervention the better the outcome.

Hope this helps.

Centre for youth in difficulty

Explanation:
I think this is an equivalent catch-all phrase. "disagio" just means "non ad agio" not at ease and therefore in difficulty. Here the difficulty seems to be depression and psychological problems. It is often also used for economic problems. Other terms are Hardship (economic) and vulnerable (to suicide in this case). Of course for the name of this particular centre, you have a lot of different possibilities.

Explanation:
Lots of Ghits. A slightly broader meaning than "counseling centre", which I also think is a good solution :-)
