Explanation:
As the owner of a pleasure cruiser (in the UK) I can tell you that it is common practice (and parlance) to "take the boat out of the water" for the winter and "put it back in the water" in the spring. Clearly "launch" is not wrong (even if it does have connotations of breaking champagne bottles!) and particularly if the boat is "launched" at a slipway, like a lifeboat, rather than being craned.
