"indotto" in this case, should incorporate all the ancillary activities related to tourism.

I'd say something along the lines of...

"on the one hand, they provide a significant amount of tourism-related goods and services and, on the other, they generate a great deal of tourism-related business / activity"

Need much, much more context (in the sense of lines above, lines below, or ask author) here because it really is obscure. The word indotto in economics is always difficult to translate, my codeluppi dictionary makes a real has of it. However...
