Hi - I agree and I think this is particularly relevant to 5-a-side football (calcetto/A5) where an attack can start very quickly due to the small number of players, and restricted pitch size. Offense I assume would be the US English equivalent but isn't widely used in UK English.

Actually, in soccer/football the action is much more of an attack than in American football as the team with the ball has to make a concerted effort to break through the other team's defense and the action is seamless and very fast when it happens, unlike the stopping and starting on the gridiron, where even a couple of yards at a time can be a good thing. So here attack is much more appropriate. It has taken me over 20 years to understand soccer a little, living here in Italy. Now I sort of like it as it has some subtle aspects not found in rugby or AMFB.
