Italian term or phrase: pugno
An interview with a former basketball coach, he talks about employing the 'pugno' which I think I'm right in saying is a specific tactic employed by the team, or a certain formation, but I have no idea what the English equivalent would be...can't find it anywhere on Internet. I need the help of a basketball expert! This is the sentence:

"i giocatori devono studiare un libro di 100 pagine a memoria perché quando l’allenatore dalla panchina dice: “facciamo la pugno”, devi sapere cos’è."

Thanks a lot!

fist
Explanation:
When the point guard (aka playmaker, the 'director' of the game) wants the team to follow a specific tactic, he initiates it by raising his fist, so as to let the other players know.

The "libro" in question should be the trainer's playbook, containing the various schemes players are supposed to learn and put into practice.

neutral  philgoddard: I think your answer is probably right, but not your explanation. The context (facciamo la pugno) and your references both suggest that it's some kind of play or tactic by the whole team.

-> thanks, and I agree with you. The part about the point guard was to further explain why it's called 'pugno'
