Can someone tell me what "M/C" stands for when used as a prefix for a ship's name?
motocannoniera?
I am tranlsating a "passaggio di consegne" and the name of the ship is preceded by "m/c" and I'm not sure whether or not I need to translate it. "M/V" I would normally leave untranslated. I have tried googling the name of the ship in question but it's not referred to online.

Explanation:
In english it would still be MV for motor vessel. Tankers do not have a specific title.

agree  philgoddard: It's more commonly spelled as one word, and I would leave it as M/C as it's part of the ship's name.
