Italian term or phrase: piedini skin mates
In a document about transporting artwork from one gallery to another there are instructions regarding the protective packaging:
"Le opere di medie o grandi dimensioni, o su tavola e i materiali archeologici, dovranno essere imballati per il trasporto con doppia cassa ignifuga rinforzata sugli angoli, dotata di sistema antivibrazione (PIEDINI SKIN MATES) e dotata di ammortizzante tipo “ethafoam”, sia quale rivestimento interno che come ammortizzante fra le due casse..."
I understand about the lined, double crate system with a shock absorption system and cushioning material inside and in between the inner and outer crate. I know what "ethafoam" is but I have never heard of "piedini skin mates" (all in lower case in the source document), nor can I find any internet references to "skin mates" in a packaging context. I'm assuming these are some kind of feet or stoppers to aborb shock and minimize vibration, and "skin mates" may be a proprietary name, as is "ethafoam". Can anyone confirm if my understanding is correct or if they have a better, more informed idea? Many thanks

NOT "skidmate" as in Rachel's suggestion (with which I don't agree)

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks for your suggestion but I'm sure you must be joking. My document has nothing to do with foot warmers and, as I explained, it is about packaging for artwork, so I am sure Rachel's suggestion is correct
