En français, ça ne me paraît pas très naturel de traduire ce mot en gardant cette syntaxe. Je pense qu'il est vraiment préférable de formuler l'expression ainsi, par exemple:
[...] mais aussi et surtout pour leur rôle environnemental primordial qui contribue, grâce à la pollinisation, à protéger...
