**Gegenstand** ist natürlich absolut richtig, aber ich finde, dass man mit diesem Wort beim Restsatz nicht so recht weiter kommt; deshalb finde ich **Objekt** besser, nämlich als Objekt, auf den das Interesse verschiedener Institutionen gerichtet ist – deshalb: **Objekt des Interesses**

die anderen Antworten sind auch richitg, aber auf Deutsch ist es schöner, wenn man das "kritisch" weglässt, das auf den ersten Blick einen negativen Touch hat. Es geht ja nur drum, zu schauen, ob das Werk irgendwo in der Fachliteratur erwähnt ist, und das hier zutreffende Fach wäre dann Kunstgeschichte. Deshalb "knsthistorisch"
