(Il fusibile duale si applica nei sistemi di azionamento con motori a magnete permanente in cui il flusso magnetico del motore viene controllato dall'elettronica di pilotaggio per portare il motore a velocità superiori a quella corrispondente alla saturazione in tensione dell'azionamento, che corrisponde alla velocità in cui la forza elettromotrice è uguale a quella erogabile dall'azionamento.)

In generale questa tensione è simile alla tensione dell'alimentazione di rete; di poco inferiore per azionamenti con DC Bus non regolato, di poco superiore per quelli con DC Bus stabilizzato. Questa velocità viene convenzionalmente definita ***velocità di ginocchio a vuoto***.
