Le modifiche riguardano soprattutto lo sfruttamento ottimale dello spazio e un’esecuzione della catena particolarmente stabile anche internamente, nello spazio di montaggio dei separatori. Di regola i separatori utilizzati sono in materiale plastico, invece per le catene di PD i separatori sono in acciaio, così come le maglie della catena. I tubi idraulici sono molto grossi e premono sui separatori; i separatori in acciaio, particolarmente stabili, resistono ai carichi elevati. L’ingombro dei tubi implica ancora un altro problema: a causa dell’aumento di sezione della catena portacavi, i raccordi terminali non si possono fissare bene. La soluzione di K? Nuovi raccordi adattati alla catena, che compensano la maggiore altezza del traversino e che possono quindi essere avvitati sullo stesso piano. I tecnici hanno adattato anche il precarico della catena, per garantire una grande autoportanza della catena nonostante l’elevato peso delle guaine.
