La tradizione vuole che l’Apostolo Pietro, in fuga dal Carcere Mamertino, si fosse qui rifugiato per riposarsi ed abbia perduto una delle bende che gli fasciavano il piede ferito dalle catene che lo avevano legato. Per questo la chiesa è anche nota come Titulus Fascìolae; ciò la fa risalire all’anno 337 d.C..

И этот перевод только вводит в заблуждение.

Название церкви можно перевести, но вряд ли нужно, тем более, что в 6 веке ее переименовали в церковь Св. Нерея и Ахиллеса. Впервые латинское название церкви упоминается в 377 году (см. ниже)

Одна из первых приходских церквей Рима, известная как церковь, посвященная Повязке. Название связано со следующей легендой: Св. Петр, опасаясь, что в Риме его предадут мученической смерти, бежал из тюрьмы. Лодыжки его были стерты до крови цепями, и поэтому он перевязал их перед тем, как пуститься в путь. Повязку он потерял на Аппиевой дороге. Позже на этом месте была построена церковь Titulus Fasciolae. Неизвестно, в каком именно году она была построена, но первое упоминание о ней относится к 377 году.

Аn inscription in the museum of San Paolo fuori le mura dated 377 says that the a deceased man named Cinnamius had been a lector in the Titulus de fasciolae. The synod list from 499 also mentions this name, and lists it as being served by five priests.

It was dedicated to Sts Nereus and Achilleus some time before the Roman Synod of 595, when the list mentions it was the Titulus SS. Nerei e Achillei.

Nereus and Achilleus were two eunuchs in the service of the Roman lady Domitilla, niece of the Emperors Titus and Domitian. Converted to Christianity and baptized by Saint Peter, they persuaded they mistress to consecrate her virginity to God. But Domitilla's boyfriend was not so impressed by the idea. The two eunuchs were first banished to tha island of Ponza where they were tortured; then they were moved to Terracina, tortured again and finally killed. Their bodies were brought back to Rome and buried in the chapel Titulus Fasciolae, which then became known as the Titulus Sanctorum Nerei et Achillei.

"Titulus Fasciolae"


Explanation:
"Fascia" значит "повязка", а суффикс "-iola" имеет уменьшительное значение.

"Titulus fasciolae" можно перевести как "посвящена повязке". Немногие часовни в Италии носят именно такое название.

Наверно дата "37", а не "337", поскольку тогда Петр уже скончался...

Asker: Нет, именно в 337. Дело в том, что этим годом датировано свидетельство об этом факте в форме надписи на камне, который хранится в Базилике Св. Павла за городскими стенами (Сан Паоло Ле Мура).
