Sto traducendo un contratto di calcio fra un calciatore e una società sportiva ed appare questa frase:

L'Agente avrà il seguente compenso:

40.000 Euro al netto di IVA e ritenuta d’acconto se ed in quanto dovute se la scadenza del nuovo contratto sarà successiva al 31 maggio 2013 ma antecedente al 30 maggio 2014;

Non capisco cosa sia una ritenuta d'acconto. È qualcosa simile all'IVA?
