Japanese term or phrase: hetaotoko
girlfriend addressing boyfriend in novel
williams gengakki
English translation:"You incompetent idiot!"
Explanation:
I think a great deal depends here on the context and "register" of the speech being employed by the two people. For example, depending on the age of the protagonists and the situation, the girl might say something like "You wimp!", thereby calling the man's courage and mansculinity into question. The literal translations here are 'heta' = unskillful, as in "The pianist gave an unskillful perfomance", and the word 'otoko' = man. In any case, the combination "hetaotoko" is meant to demean the man. Hope this is helpful. haslov (for J.E.T.--Japanese/English Translations)

hetaotoko

Explanation:
Depending on age of speaker & what exactly the boyfriend has done to deserve the abuse: 'You clumsy idiot' - if he's knocked something over etc. or 'You complete idiot/fool' - if he's said or done something stupid, or 'You total wimp/failure' if he's failed to do something that the girl believes he should have been able to do but couldn't.

incompetent man!

Explanation:
"heta" is the opposite of "youzu" (able) basicly meaning he can't get anything done.

"otoko" is simply male, or man
