(According to Family Census Register) Explanation: I don't think a 戸籍受理帳 exists in Japan, but it seems that it might in Korea (or did until the family registry law changed in 2007). I'm not sure if Family Census Register is the proper name for the 戸籍受理帳 (it would probably be the 戸籍謄本), but it would probably work for your purposes. I suppose you could use something like "Family Census Register, Register of Acceptance" or the like. You may want to specify that it is Korean. If one of the spouses isn't Korean or the marriage wasn't in Korea then you can ignore this! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 5 hrs (2012-06-26 07:45:57 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Well you can ignore that then. cinefil-san's references would make sense if, say, there was no digital record of the 受理 (since it is an older record) so they verified it in the 受附帳. (confirmed) by the journal of receipt) Explanation: As you can see in the first reference URL below, 婚姻届受理証明書 is exist in Japan. This is a certification proving the marriage notification has been submitted to and received by the city hall. In Japan no separate marriage certificate exist. All the personal matters (birth, marriage, death, etc.) has to be proved by one piece of official paper - the copy of the family register. However, as you can see in the URL, it could take a couple of days to update the family register. In contrast, the certificate of receipt of (marriage) notification can be issued on the spot. This is useful document especially for newly married couple when they make a honeymoon trip abroad. Without this piece of paper they have nothing as for the proof of their marriage. In case something has happened in abroad and they have to prove that they are married couple, they are in trouble. 婚姻届受理証明書 is a proof of receipt of the marriage notification. A city hall official can confirm the receipt by a) actually seeing the notification form itself, or b) looking up a some sort of chronological list in where the receipt of notifications are recorded all together. So I gather that ただし、戸籍受理帳による part is to say that the proof has been confirmed by looking up the list. If the city hall issued this certification in return to the submission of the marriage notification, they do not need to look up the list, therefore this notation does not appear in the other document. Unfortunately I could not find if any uniformed translation for 戸籍受理帳 exist but no success, but I think the journal of receipt can do the job.
