Physical Layer (or PH in English too) Explanation: Does that make sense if it meant physical layer? Acronym Finder seems to think so. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 14 hrs (2008-10-30 22:23:55 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I'm not an engineer, so I may be wrong. If your document is about migration to a new system that is to be introduced, PH would mean any significant part of the system that is not DB or ERP. It may well be platform as you suggested, but I thought it would be rather odd that the Japanese geeks would be using an acronym that does not make sense outside Japan, because they normally learn the acronyms from their US counterparts, like DB and ERP. So I thought PH must be something that is internationally recognised as is. Sorry I can't help any more than this. Reference: http://www.acronymfinder.com/PH.html |

process handle Explanation: Could it be process handle? http://www.google.co.jp/search?hl=ja&rlz=1B3GGGL_jaJP249JP24... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 15 hrs (2008-10-31 00:00:55 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- That's just a guess. Your idea of platform sounds more reasonable to me. |

bastardized katakana -> romaji abbreviation of platform. Explanation: As noted in your comments and my comments, I think it must be a katakana->romaji abbreviation for platform. |

Plat form Explanation: Thanks Dunkan. Where is Kurt? -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day33 mins (2008-10-31 08:50:20 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Sorry for the typo... It should be "platform" -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day35 mins (2008-10-31 08:52:27 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- But then again, hey if the PH is really the abbreviation of two words, you can see why I put a space in the first place... |

Reference Reference information: Could it be a short form for phase? It will be helpful if more context is provided. |

Reference: PH = puratto hoomu (maybe?) Reference information: Often Japanese people pronounce "home meaning "form". These two are often mixed up and creating a lot of confusions to the interpreters who hear them. Just a suggestion. |
