natural veneer wood plank Explanation: http://www.marliteplank.com/ Wall and floor 単板 = plank -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2007-04-01 10:05:32 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- http://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/browse.cfm?StartRow=169&so... Just another plank reference for you, Li Gang. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 5 hrs (2007-04-01 12:36:04 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Li Gang, My feeling is that 化粧 is more about the thin layer of actual expensive wood that is glued onto a cheaper wood material (usually plywood) to give the "cosmetic" or --as you say--"decorative" look to the plank. I feel you can use the word "decorative" as long as you also use the word "veneer" too: "A decorative natural veneered wood plank" -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 5 hrs (2007-04-01 12:47:40 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Just as a note Li Gang, A veneeer can be a plastic-like substance that looks just like an expensive wood or it can also be a very thin layer of wood with a layer of urethane on top of it to make it more durable. Because of the high cost of wood most expensive woods (for walls, furniture, etc.) are usually veneer. |

No offence to Joyce, but: "natural veneer wood plank" = zero Google hits. Take 'plank' out of the equation, and the result is a tiny bit better: "natural veneer wood" = 54 hits but "natural wood veneer" = 14,000 hits.... so please take care with your final choice of words here. As for 化粧, this is referring to the 'decorative' surface, as I originally mentioned above, but it is already implied by definition in the meaning of 'veneer,' and again, is not really required in the translation, but that is entirely up to you. According to Glova: 化粧板 = veneer Anyway, good luck Li! |
