Insurance / Life Insurance
Japanese term or phrase: 従被 (自殺契約継続), (保険者)
Used in one category on a form instructing how to make certain calculations relating to life insurance.

On the form, the usage is 「 従被自殺契約継続」, but the only usage I see on the web is 「従被保険者」. 1. What could 「従被」here be translated to, and
2. Is the wording the same for both of the above instances?

Explanation:
Life insurance policies also have a suicide clause that basically states that if the insured commits suicide within 2 years (1 year for some policies), then the insurance company will only refund the premiums. Afterward, in most cases, the insurance company will pay the claim. The general reasoning in paying for suicide is that the insured would generally be considered to be mentally ill. The 2 year waiting period is to provide against adverse selection. If immediate payment was provided, someone determined to commit suicide could take out a life insurance policy, then commit suicide. The presumption is that most people who really want to commit suicide are not going to wait 2 years so that the beneficiary can collect the death payment.

There is also a legal presumption against suicide. If the insurer wanted to deny payment because of suicide, the burden of proof would be on the insurer to prove that it was a suicide......

Explains the most common life insurance provisions in a contract. ... then the periods for suicide coverage and the incontestable period will not begin for ...

Secondary insured person if you are talking about family insurance contracts

Explanation:
I think you are talking about family insurance contracts.
In many cases, the husband is the primary person insured and the wife is the secondary.
And in some cases, the contract will naturally be terminated when the primary person is dead.
In this case, I am not sure if the 自殺(suicide) means the primary person's or the secondary person's, but
従被(secondary insured person)自殺(suicide)契約(contract)継続(continuation) seems to say that the insurance contract will continue even if one of the insured persons committed suicide.
Even native Japanese speakers don't exactly detect such a "highly specific" term or self-satisfactory wording that is very rarely seen or used. Only insurance companies that made up such a strange term use it, and I really doubt if the insured person who will read the insurance policy will ever understand what it means exactly.
So, why don't you ask your client directly (I suppose they are an insurance company)?
