I'd stick to "Oaza" as it's there on an official-looking prefectural website. They also use "Oaza" for other locations containing 大字 in the name elsewhere in the Prefecture. I agree that without an apostrophe to separate the syllables, "Ohaza" could look like おはざ. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 53 mins (2007-01-20 13:30:29 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- No, 大字 is a single word. I wouldn't put O-aza using the hyphen because it makes the "o" look line an honorific "o" as in "o-toire," "o-bento," etc. Again, given that the Pref. itself likes "Oaza" enough to use it on its website, I'd confidently use that. eg. Tokyo is officially Tokyo (not Toukyou), Osaka isn't written Ohsaka or Oosaka, etc. |
