I'm not having a translation issue here, I'm having a deciphering issue. (^_-) I can't figure out for the life of me what the highlighted kanji are. I imagine this will take a native speaker about 2 seconds to answer!

The word is
争わなければ (arasowanakereba) - yeah, the \"wa\" looks like \"me\", that confused me first.
But I am sure this is it, it cannot be anything else.
