Context:

天板・棚板共に使用する面は積載物の落下防止のため、1段落ち込んだ縁付き構造になっています。

Best I can come up with "one step dropped design." Sounds awkward, though. 縁付き seems to not really translate to anything more than just meaning "with" in most contexts, am I correct?

I think the 縁 is protruding perpendicularly to the board so that the load won't fall off.
