木製の家具などを作る職場での、Woodworker（木工師）の「業務及び技術訓練内容」の中に以下のように書かれています。

１　木工加工の治具の工夫と開発（精度、生産性を考える工夫）

２　森林資源を考える木材利用の工夫と研究（針葉樹利用を考える）

上記の１の文中の「工夫」は device と訳してみたのですが、それで良いでしょうか？
そして２の文中の「工夫」には、どの訳語が適切でしょうか？

I think "device" does not apply in the examples. They look more like "procedures, ideas, means" to make things better. Then I thought "approach" might be one option.
