Verification does cover everything Port City suggested. I think "review" is the best option. "Review" could also be used for assessing other people or procedures and is closer to 監査 in meaning. "Review" has the right nuance and I think would sound most natural in context.

Agreed. It may be safer to just say "verification" to cover whatever "verification" can mean directly or indirectly - validating a prescription by verifying it's duly issued by the issuing doctor and that there is no error, reviewing dispensing by a fellow pharmacist, and probably checking the content of the prescription to see that the drug prescribed doesn't contradict with other drugs prescribed by another doctor for the same patient. Can "verification" cover them all? If not, "verification/review" may definitely cover what the author wants to say.

It is unlikely "audit" would be used for a fellow pharmacist. "Performance evaluation" or 'assessment" are better terms. Audits would be performed by regulatory authorities. Also the source refers to the everyday activities and duties of a pharmacist. Phoning the doctor's surgery to verify there is no error or the prescription is not a forgery could hardly be called an audit.
