Japanese term or phrase: igaku gakui (医学学位)
I am translating a diploma for a Japanese medical doctor. In Japan, a person graduates from a School of Medicine of a university in 6 years and gets this degree. Once he passes the national test for medical license, he can practice medicine.

My question is what is the degree for this person who graduates from 6-year school of medicine.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you for both of you. I don't know who is right, to be honest. Literally, it should be a bachelor of medicine and it is considered undergraduate in Japan. But I really think it is corresponding to a master's or doctor's degree in the U.S.

doctor of medicine

Explanation:
igaku gakui does not specify the speciality of that person, but what he gets is a "medical degree", i.e., a doctor.
For anything else he needs further education AFTER passing the state exam.

Hope this helps.
