Funori Seaweed Explanation: Since this is a propper name of a substance derived from a plant indigenous to Japan, I think that it would be safe to keep the proper name as a proper name, unchanged as "Fukunomori seaweed." But if is there a possibility that you have misremembered the word then I think it might be "Funori" rather than fukunomori. If so, as I suspect, then again, this proper name should be left as it is, or with the addition of "seaweed." Hence my answer. Colin Pearson (mail address - [email protected] ) thinks that "funoran" is the name of a seaweed, also known as "Funori." Please see the first of the references below.
