I wouldn't call for her head, but it reads like a sloppy piece of academic work, couched in tedious academese. I found a review of her book, and basically the 8 types of views can be first divided into militarist and anti-militarist positions, which actually mean 'pro-military' and 'anti-military', and specifically in the Japanese context, views on the existence of the JSDF. Traditionalist = those who have deeply gender-biased views; Equal but different = genders should be treated equally but funcitons may be gender-specific; Equal = genders should be considered equally; Ability trumps all = genders are irrelevant, only merit and ability. Or something like that. These positions are then transposed onto a cuboid, which is totally baffling.

まだ要領を得ませんが、「軍隊の存在を肯定的に捉え、軍隊の組織構成は性差なく実力に則すべきと主張する人」ということでしょうか。このように専門用語とカタカナを羅列すると、「学者の書く事は分からん」と言われても仕方がありませんね・・・

フェミニストの中には軍事を否定せず、軍事組織内での女性の地位向上を求める人々がいるわけで、すなおにmerit-based militaristと言うしかないのかもしれませんね。

一連のfaridaさんからの質問に引用された日本語は、私ににすれば論旨が不明瞭で使用してる言葉の意味も筆者はよくわかっていないようなので真剣に考えるのは止めました。もしこの文章が某大学の準教授によるものだとしたらこの準教授はすぐに職を辞すべきですね。

原文が問題ですが、ミリタリストではなく、ミリタリーあるいはミリタリズムのことではないでしょうか。軍事的な実力（＝軍事力）が、最終的に他の要素や束縛、例えば国際法や戦時法に正当性において勝り、勝るべきという考え方。あえて訳せば someone who believes in unrestrained militarism？
