Japanese term or phrase: 裏鹿の子 / 表鹿の子
Can anyone help me with an English term for these two variations on pique cotton?

No other context really-- it's from a clothing catalogue, and describing a polo shirt.

Explanation:
I know it’s not much of a translation, but in many cases they go ahead and use the original terminology. Shibori instead of Tie–dye etc. Caution: In the below site they have miss spelled the term many times. It’s Kanoko not Kanako (that would be my name).

WS seed stitch / RS seed stitch

As you can see from these two links, 鹿の子 seems to be "seed stitch" (aka moss stitch) and 裏表 just tells which side of the fabric the pattern appears on. 裏面 is "wrong side" (WS) and 表面 is "right side" (RS), hence my suggestion.

That said, if I saw RS Seed Stitch in a clothing catalog, I probably wouldn't know what to think. You can see many sites equating seed stitch to pique, although they don't actually seem to be the same thing. Still, pique would probably suffice for 表鹿の子, and I also saw results for "reverse pique" which seems like it would be a match for 裏鹿の子. Really just guessing for the most part, but perhaps it will help.

Here is some more info with pictures about 鹿の子編み:
