married before the registrar Explanation: Etter all sannsynlighet er det snakk om byfogdens kontor, dvs. at vi her har med en borgerlig vielse å gjøre. Dette har jeg oversatt fritt til "married before the registrar". Kjendispresten Einar Gelius viet en gang et par i en telefonkiosk. Tanken er at vielsen kan foregå hvor som helst, også på kontoret på jobben. Så i teorien kan det jo være Gelius som er på gang her, og da må det oversettes annerledes, f.eks. til "the marriage was performed in the office". |

wed in the office Explanation: Please note not 'at' the office, which would suggest the office of the couple. In the office could mean in the chambers of the official performing the act; at the time, this would be the Notary Public unless it was a church wedding. In the latter case, in the office would be in the sacristy or rectory. |
