Law/Patents - Law (general)
Norwegian term or phrase: partshjelp
I'm translating the annual report for the Norwegian Bar Association.

Advokatforeningen får også ofte anmodninger om å bistå i rettssaker...Bistanden kan ta form av formell partshjelp...

In Britain, what is the accepted term for this help given to the party in the case?

Explanation:
See the link for the English translation from tvisteloven, at Section 15-7 (3). Second link is the corresponding Norwegian text.

Meant to include this for the example sentence from the translated act: "Third party intervention shall be declared in pleadings or at a court hearing before the case is ruled on by a final and enforceable judgement. "

An example from the U.K., at http://www.lawgazette.co.uk/opinion/columnists/third-party-i... "Third-party interventions are becoming an accepted part of the judicial process."

I s'pose the hyphen needs to be included for your purpose . . . :-)

Example sentence(s):
  • The intervener shall join the action as it is at the time of joinder. The intervener may take procedural steps for the benefit of the party who is to benefit from the support.
