the interpretation:
a company's willingness to oblige visavi a customer/customers, based on a mixture of goodwill calculation and a sense of moral obligation, in most cases rather the former than the latter.
I remember one case where thousands of cars were destroyed by hail in Bavaria and the Allianz insursance company paid damages of more than 2 billion marks even if they were not forced to do it according to the insurance legislation - labeling it Kulanz(=kulance=fair dealing)
