Jeg er 55 og begynner bare nå å lære norsk, men jeg kan jeg allerede lese engelsk (morsmålet mitt) og noen andre fremmedspråk. -- Denne setningen står i en tekst der dette uttrykket er brukt som parentes og ser ut som et idiom. Sammenhengen er en beretning over religiøs anvisning og praksis av samene. Betyr det kanskje at mannen ikke kunne gjøre noe mot religionen sin (mot den guddommelige makten) eller ikke kunne hindres i å praktisere religionen? Hele teksten lyder: "Han tilstod at sønnen Christoffer kunne tale med steiner, og fra dem få svar på de han spør om, for han gikk både gal og vill den gang han lærte.
