Norwegian to English translations [Non-PRO]
Other / rape/assualt alarm
Norwegian term or phrase: mobil voldsalarm
I'm translating part of an invitation to tender. Could anyone tell me whether the mobil voldsalarm is something that is intended more to counteract rape (since I've seen the stories about the increase in rapes in Sweden and Norway committed by non-Swedish people), or is it also intended to cover other types of assault?
What I'm getting at is should it be translated as mobile rape alarm or mobile assault alarm - or indeed something else similar? The text gives no indication either way. The nearest it gets to specific context is 'den trusselsatte'.
Opinions appreciated.

mobile assault alarm
Explanation:
I think that the physical implications of "vold" needs to stay in the translation...

"Our mobile assault alarm is created for groups that are often threatened, such as politicians, social workers etc."

Explanation:
maybe something like "Personal/Mobile Distress Alarm" or a similar general term might be in order.

These terms get some google hits - most for Personal Distress Alarm.

If you google Personal Distress Alarm both for a definition and pictures and do the same for voldsalarm you will see that they are essentially the same thing. An object which gives off a loud, piercing sound if activated.
