Our honor is fidelity Explanation: ... is the litteral translation. "Fidelity is our honor" sounds better HTH, Serge L. |

Our honor is devotion Explanation: ...sounds even better if you ask me. Although the word "fidelity" would give an accurate translation, "devotion" works better here. Indeed, among the associations the latin root of fidelity brings to mind are military ones -- e.g. the U.S. Marines' motto "semper fidelis." However it seems to me that an even stronger (and inappropriate) association is conjured up by the word fidelity: Marital infidelity. I find it more plausible that soldiers might be apt to speak of their "devotion" to their unit or platoon, while they might only use the word "fidelity" in the context of talk about a spouse. |

Our honour is loyalty Explanation: If I am not mistaken, this was the motto of the Waffen SS and SS in Nazi Germany, and also the motto of the Viking Waffen SS-Divisionen (the Scandinavian SS division raised in the Nordic countries), If this is the case it has to be "Our honour is loyalty", as that is the English sentence used in all official histories of that time. |

allegiance Explanation: This is a good word in this case. In my dictionary "allegiance" means support for and loyalty to a particular group, person, or belief. |
