I have asked about this term before, but this time I'm after the equivalent term used in the speed skating world. The sentence accompanies an illustration (I don't know what of, but am guessing it might be to do with the sport) which reads: "Skøyteløpernes hvileskjær er blitt en metafor på et kutt på xxx millioner kroner i budsjettet til universitetenet."

Although this sounded viable to me, I got to few hits to be convinced. But I'm going to select it and give 2 points for future reference. Also for the record, another contender is "one-foot glide", which does actually get more hits. As it turned out, I agreed with the client that we would not translate the actual term but add a brief explanation instead, as this was sufficient in the given context.
