Farmers in Poland do not pay income tax as incomes gained from agricultural production are tax–exempt. Income tax is levied only on special types of agricultural production. Agricultural tax plays the most important role in the Polish system of agricultural taxation.

The remaining wealth taxes are: property tax and forestry tax.

They do not burden farms much due to a number of tax exemptions and exclusions.

The local tax is the most important area of the socio-economic system.Ever since a new Local Government in Poland came in, these taxes have been subject to small, cosmetic changes. Property taxes, which include real estate tax, agricultural tax and forest tax, was charged to the owned or managed property. Forest tax is a direct tax charged to the communes. Podatek od nieruchomości jest jednym z największych źródeł dochodów własnych budżetu gminy. Ze względu na szeroką charakterystykę można przyporządkować go do różnych typów podatków:

podatek przychodowy – obciąża przychód nie uwzględniając kosztów jego uzyskania. Opodatkowane jest faktyczne władanie nieruchomością generującą domniemany przychód.
