Asker: Thanks! However I'm still in doubt. You see I assumed "ridges" but "alae" seems to fit as well. I just can't find any Polish articles that would use this kind of wording. "Wstęga" to me is something elongated that spans over the substantial portion of the body, you'd think it also implies something that is partially detached and serves e.g. as means of propulsion but it is also used in other cases (e.g. fish lateral line is alternatively 'wstęga boczna').
