I can't speak to British usage, but there's a difference in American English between "fair" and "bazaar" (we don't use the word "fest" by itself here - it's always in compounds like "Filmfest" or "Beerfest").
To me, a "fair" is something with attractions, rides, etc. (e.g. a State Fair or an employee health fair), whereas a "bazaar" implies selling-related activies. Although things are often also sold at a fair, it's not the main focus.
Again, I imagine the usage may be different in the UK, AU, etc., but that's the difference here in the US. |
