Polish term or phrase: Przysięga ich w ręku
Translating an 18th century history book on the Order of Malta, and the following fragment is from a section on the Order's structure of government, specifically about it's Council.

'In the absence of the Grand Master on the Council, a Governor shall take his place. In the absence of the Governor, the most senior Bailiff shall preside over the Council. Przysięga w ich ręku, podobnież iak przed W. Mistrzem czyni się, gdy iej okoliczność iaka wymaga.'

The untranslated part is what's giving me trouble here.

Any help would be appreciated!
