I think the best form is 'signatures filed' rather than 'authenticated' here.
First you need to 'abrir firma' which means you go to a Notary Public and leave your signature which they put on file. So 'firma' is the signature once filed. (Different from Italian where 'firma' is the actual signature. In PT it is an 'assinatura' until it is filed with a Notary; only then does it technically become a 'firma')
Authentication of a signature would be the second phase, 'reconhecer firma'. If I am asked for a document with one or more signatures, they may say 'forneça o documento com assinatura reconhecida em cartório'. This means I need to go to the same notary where the signature was filed ('onde a firma foi aberta'), they will put a special stamp near the signature and then the scribe or other officer will sign it.
Sometimes, due to distances (like in SP, if you need to reconhecer firma in São Miguel Paulista you may need a 3-hour journey across town) people open 'firmas' at more than one cartório (notary public) or even in different towns. I have a firma in Jundiaí where I live, and also one at the notary on Av São Luiz in downtown SP which is easy for most clients to get to.
So, in extreme cases, someone could open firmas in all notaries in the city. São Paulo has over 20 notaries. This could be advertised (say, on a site) as 'firmas em todos os tabeliães desta capital'
Technically, the word is cartório (or 'tabelionato') and not tabelião. Tabelião is the owner of the notarial office, who usually (but not always) signs the 'reconhecimentos de firma'. (There is a technical difference between cartório and tabelionato but the terms are often used interchangeably. Maybe a lawyer or someone who works (or has worked) at a tabelionato/cartório could shed light on the difference)
